One Lane Farm is located in Rickman, TN between the cities of Livingston and Cookeville in Tennessee. This wasn’t originally a farm, but over the past few years since moving/building here, Brent and Carol (mostly Carol) has transitioned part of their homestead to a produce producing farmland. Each year the farm expands to grow a variety of vegetables and fruits such as watermelon, squash, beans, blackberries, and coming soon an apple orchard. Just this past year, an additional garden was planted as well as a wood fence installed. Most of the work on this farm is done the long way (meaning, we don’t have tractors or augers (yet), just go ole-fashioned post hole diggers and hoes). We do hire out plowing and bush hogging for now, but hopefully over the next little while we will have our own tractor and other tools that make the job(s) easier. One of our work philosophies is to do jobs the “hard-way” first and then upgrade. This method helps us remain grounded and we appreciate tools even more when we get them because we know how hard it is to make a farm work. If you want to see how our farm grows year to year, give us a follow.
